When we arrived Salvador from Morro de Sao Paulo, we were greeted by the loud party music and mood of the people. I had never seen a city in such high spirit, everyone was happy and excited about the carnival. Many people on the street, from vendors, tourists to the locals, all are here for this big nation party.
It was an experience for me to see such sight. During the carnival period all lodging and hostel are extremely expensive, the price jet up to 4-5 times the normal rates. But yet most hostels are booked, thank God for some contacts we had make along the way, we managed to get a lodging at the last minute and a cheaper rate for the balance 2 days of carnival.
At the carnival, there are many trucks (blocker) that will sweep pass the road following with a group of people who had pre-paid for the Abacas (shirt entry to the blocker), there will be a popular singer with his group of musicians and they will sing dance for about 4 to 5 hours.
I had so much fun in Salvador with all my new found friends, that make me so unreluctant to leave them when I go down to the Patagonia.
